Pictures showing Obama being a real person

Friday, October 24th, 2008

A friend sent these to my wife and she in turn sent them to me. These pictures seem to really show Barack Obama as a real person, doing things normal people do. Picture “K”, “D”, and “J” really show what seems to be a normal Father / Husband and working man.

Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X (Third Edition)

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I’ve had my macbook sense sometime around June of 2007. It’s was the first Mac that I’ve had that I actually used on a daily basis, before the macbook I had a G4 Cube I picked up off eBay to play with PPC OpenBSD so that doesn’t really count.

I can honestly say that I love my macbook. It is hands down the best computer I’ve ever owned. The only thing that I wish was different was the graphics chipset. I would love, I mean love to be able to play WoW and have it not run like crap.

In the year and change that I’ve had my macbook I’ve been ever more interested in learning to code for Mac OS. Now that the iPhone App Store is up and running and the SDK has had its NDA lifted I figured that I might as well try to cash in on the App Store Gold Mine.

I know Python, Perl PHP and bits and pieces of a few other languages but I have not touched C or C++ sense my 10th grade C++ course. I figured that it couldn’t be to hard to spin my Python knowledge of objects into C objects and decided that I should just dive right in.

I didn’t want to go it alone though. I spent a day or so looking on Amazon for Objective-C books and reading reviews. I finally decided on Cocoa(R) Programming for Mac(R) OS X (3rd Edition). I’ve had the book for a few days now and am really enjoying it.

New Linux Kernel Naming Scheme?

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Skimming digg this morning I found a story discussing a visioning change to the Linux Kernel. Historically odd numbers were development versions and even numbers were stable. The 2.6 Kernel series has been out for five years now.

Greg KH posted a new naming scheme YEAR.NUMBER.MINOR_RELEASE. To me this seems silly. Referring to the kernel as 2.6.22 sounds better. 2.6 is a known stable version. I can see it being very confusing to people to call the kernel 2008-10 or 2008.2.1.

Photoswap for the iPhone by Padadaz: Simple and Addictive

Monday, October 13th, 2008

My wife, brother and I have been playing with Photoswap by Padadaz for a few days now and it is now one of the most used applications on my iPhone.

You take a picture and send it out. It is received by one and only one person. If they find it interesting they can directly reply to you with a picture of their own. Thats it.

I’ve personally had a ‘conversation’ last for over two hours, sending pictures of random toys in my office and getting random toys in return.

The Republican National Committee tries to convert me using Hitleresque imagery

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I guess the Republican National Committee thinks that I should not vote for Obama and should vote for the Dinosaur McCain. I think they chose an interesting Image to uses on the front of their mailer. The very first thing that I thought of when I saw it was how much it looked like propaganda from Nazi Germany. I understand that they are going for an image of strength and pride and that the image of Hitler is not the image they had hoped to bring to mind.

If you are eligible to vote. Please do it. Your country needs your help. Stand up. Be heard.

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

With the election coming up soon everyone needs to be registered. If you are eligible to vote please, please go register. Every vote counts. Unless you are in Florida. Going by past elections Florida’s votes are bought and sold or all together throw away and then new votes are made up.

We as a people need to stand up and make sure that our government will talk to us like adults, not talk down to us like children which is what the last 8 years have been like. They tell us things because we can’t handle it. We don’t have our big boy pants on. I think we all know how well that has gotten us.

Do the right thing. Vote for someone who has more going for them than they were a prisoner of war and has a side kick who is nothing more than a piece of ass. If you think about it, does the fact that he was a prisoner of war mean he wasn’t very good at his job?

I just want to know that something will change; Anything. We can’t take the same ideas and policies that we have had for the last 8 years. It doesn’t work.

Vote-scam fliers target black philadelphia neighborhoods

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

This is crazy. I would say its a new low for the GOP but it isn’t The GOP has stepped up to the plate once again and swung for the fences. According to the Philadelphia Daily News there has been an anonymous filer being passed around some black neighborhoods in philadelphia warning residents that there will be undercover officers arresting people with outstanding warrants.

I guess the Republican plan has changed to keep people from voting so they have a chance of pulling off a win in this election. I wonder if they are still holding that Diebold card up their sleeve. If you can’t win an election by votes on your own and you don’t have friends to help you buy or rig the election there really is only one answer.

Keep the other side from voting there by making your sides votes count for more.

If by some chance the republicans do win, I wonder how long it will take before we get a knock on the door from the gestapo asking us for our papers.

Two Gallons of Gass An Hour

Don’t get mad. Get registered. Seriously people. Can we really do another 4 years of this?

Update on my Sceptre X9

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

In my last post about my broken Sceptre X9 I was waiting for the capacitors to arrive. I’ve been busy and have not had a chance to post an update until now. The monitor is back to working 100% of the time. All told it cost me less than $10.00 in parts and about 30 minutes of time.

Of the four capacitors that are on the power supply I only ended up replacing one. There was one that was defiantly bad. The top was popped up and split open and it didn’t smell to great. I thought about replacing the other three with new ones while I had it apart but ended up not wanting to fix things that were not broken (yet).

I’m not sure how long this fix will really last before the other three go bad and I have to do it all over again but at least this time I’ll have the extra capacitors I need on hand.

What the election needs to really get people interested: Ninjas vs Pirates

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

I was just reading a post on Jen’s blog and I don’t agree with a lot of what she has to say, mostly because she is one of those crazy right wing republicans (if you read this, you know I don’t hold it against you) and I am pretty much as far left as you can on the liberal scale.

Her post does bring up a good point though. You see crap tons of advertising for shows for the fall TV season and you’ll see a bunch more once the election is over and they start to push spring TV. Why don’t the campaigns put out some really good ads?

I have some ideas guys. Trust me America can’t handle these which would make them great.

One day in 1767, when the young warrior left his village to find wood to make a drum, he was attacked by four men who surrounded him and took him captive. Kunta awakens to find himself blindfolded, gagged, bound and prisoner of the white men. Haley describes how they humiliate the young warrior by stripping him naked, probing him in every orifice, and branding him with a hot iron. He and others are put on a slave ship for a nightmarish three month journey to America.

  • Sara Palin in a bikini in a beer commercial. This one is great because it could air during Sunday football and would score really well with me.
  • How about John McCain in a robe wondering around a house looking for his slippers?
These commercials would help to get young people to start talking about and maybe even giving a shit about where this country is going to go in the next four years.
