It’s been a long time sense I’ve posed anything. I’ve been busy with life and work and this has fallen through the cracks.
Things I’ve been working on recently:
- Catalyst Perl applications with nifty restful views of DBIx::Class result sets.
- Java EE applications with Spring Framework ( I’m really starting to like Spring and Java).
- Test Automation with Selenium and Cucumber Page Objects.
- A NodeJS Bitcoin arbitrage bot.
My wife and I are expecting our second child in April. We went for level 2 ultrasound Thursday because I was born with a clubbed foot and we wanted to make sure everything was ok with the baby.
One really Nice thing about a level 2 ultra sound is you get to find out the sex of the baby before you normally would. After a long and annoying wait at the doctor’s office because there was a scheduling mix-up we were taken to talk to the genetic counselor. We give out all of our family medical history and she makes some notes and tells us that we are at more or less no more risk than anyone else to have a child with a clubbed foot. Yay!
Next up, the ultra sound. We are eventually taken back and they start doing the ultra sound and take measurements of the baby’s head, arms, guts and pretty much every other part of the baby. We asked the lady doing the ultrasound to not tell us the sex until we could bring the rest of our family into the room. The were in the waiting room while the actual important-for-the-baby part of the ultrasound was done.
They come into the room and the ultrasound tech zeros in on the baby’s junk and announces that it is a boy. There are hugs, kisses and congratulations going around.
I’m still in shock. I know how to deal with a girls. I’m good at being a dad to Grace, now I have start at zero again. I’m excited.
I’ve been playing Farmville recently on Facebook. The concept is simple, you plant things then harvest them for experience points and money. You then use the money you made to plow the fields and buy seed to do it all over again.
I’ve seen some of my friends level really quickly and don’t have time to sit around and play the game all day so I figured it would be an interesting challange to write a bot to play the game for me. In the past I’ve used SCAR Divi in the past to write a bot for Puzzle Pirates so I think I try writing a bot for Farmville and post the results and possible the code.
Grace’s first Halloween didn’t go exactally as planned.
Cute costume: Check
Bag for candy: Check
Safe neighborhood to take her around in: Check
45 minutes of crying: Check
Wait. What? After getting her all dressed up as snow white with a bow and shoes and everything we hopped in the car with her grandma and were off to score some candy. Mmm candy. As we were getting close to where we were going she started to get upset. We figured of was because she didn’t want to be in the car anymore. Boy were we wrong.
She go more and more upset as we walked around. We made it all of 100ft from the car before we decided to go back and take the costume off and see how she was. It didn’t help. She was angry and tired.
Let’s hope thanksgiving goes better.
I know I just posted about the sylvania tv and I even told myself that I was going to go to bed. I can’t sleep and am laying here and getting upset all over again.
Why is it so hard for Sylvania to make a good quality TV? Did I just get a lemon? Why did it take six months to get a box snipped to me to mail it to them? What did they actually do with and to my TV for the two months they had it?
All of these questions race through my mind and make me so frustrated. I really hope I can get somewhere when I call them tomorrow. I have a feeling they will not be able to find any record of me ever shipping them a TV and them never doing any warranty work on it.
This doesn’t even being up the fact that the TV is now out of warranty because they took six months to get me a box and find my original warrenty request.
Wish me luck dealing with them.
